I went shopping!

I got this top and a bra to go with it. I really like the bra. It came with 2 sets of detachable straps: those clear plastic kind and straps that match the rest of the bra; or you can go without straps. The clear plastic straps are cool, but they stick to your skin and can be a little uncomforable.
I also got a new pair of sandals from payless and some shortpants from The Avenue. God, I love shopping. It all comes together really well and makes a cute new outfit. A couple of weeks ago, I went shopping and bought this skirt. I'm thinking the new top will look cute with the skirt, but I'm not sure. Let me know what you think.

Jackson jury enters 2nd week of deliberations...

...and I'm bored with it. I don't care if they find him guilty or not, I'm just ready for a verdict so that it's over with. It seems like this has been going on forever. It was a little interesting the first few days of the trial, then the day Michael's bail was almost revoked and he showed up in his pajamas. Waiting for Michael, now that was quality television. I'm sick of listening to Nancy Grace's opinion, which is completely irrelevant in my opinion. I'm ready to get back to real news on my news channels.

Non-smokers can be so annoying!

There's a message board that I post at regularly. There's a new kid over there that's like 20 years old spewing his ignorance about how smokers should smoke at home or quit. He said, and I quote, "It's not that hard." Anyone who has never been addicted to cigarettes has no clue as to how hard it is to quit smoking. It's bad. I've tried. The last time I tried, I decided that I would rather smoke than be a bitch to everyone around me. I didn't like the way being a bitch made me feel way worse than I didn't like the way smoking made me feel.

King & King controversy

When a grouchy queen tells her layabout son that it's time for him to marry, he sighs, "Very well, Mother.... I must say, though, I've never cared much for princesses." His young page winks. Several unsatisfactory bachelorettes visit the castle before "Princess Madeleine and her brother, Prince Lee" appear in the doorway. The hero is smitten at once. "What a wonderful prince!" he and Prince Lee both exclaim, as a shower of tiny Valentine hearts flutters between them. First-time co-authors and artists de Hann and Nijland matter-of-factly conclude with the royal wedding of "King and King," the page boy's blushing romance with the leftover princess and the assurance that "everyone lives happily ever after."

Here's what's going on. The state is threatening to cut the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Library System's funding if children's books about homosexuality aren't reshelved separate from the other children's books. This all started with King and King.
Libraries as a rule are very anti-censorship and pro-freedom to choose to read whatever you want without the state interfering. I also have very strong feelings about this issue. It is not the state's or the librarian's responsibility to screen what children read. That responsibility falls of the parents/guardians of those children. If the parents don't want the children reading it, they shouldn't let them. If they do let the children read it, maybe they should read it together and discuss what they thought, how it made them feel, etc.
I know from a religious stand point that homosexuality is wrong; I also know that judgment is just as wrong. God gave people free will for a reason. Contrary to popular belief, I am not God, so I don't know that reason, but I know that people DO have free will to make their own choices, and in doing so have to live with the consequences of the choices that they make.
Whether the state of Oklahoma likes it or not, there are people out there who are in homosexual relationships and have children. It can be hard to explain to a child that their family is different from their friend's, and these books are there to help. These books don't need their own special "homo" section.

Happy Star Wars Day!

Unless you've been living in a cave, you know that today, well tomorrow officially, is the release date of the final Star Wars movie. I'm very excited. The reviews say its disappointing, blah blah blah, but, dude, seriously, IT HAS DARTH VADER. I've never been disappointed by Vader before, and I don't expect to be now.

My mom thinks that it's unsafe for me to go to the midnight movie by myself. My reaction to this was, "Mom, I won't be by myself. There'll be lots of other Star Wars geeks there too." I really don't think that that was a sufficient arguement for her, but too bad. I'm going to see Star Wars!!!

I'm an independent woman, and have been going to places at midnight by myself for the last 10 years or so. The only reason she's worried is because she knows I'm doing it. If I didn't live with her, I'd still be going, she just wouldn't necessarily know about it. At least she'll know whether or not I made it home safely. She doesn't object to my brother going to the midnight movie, but that's probably because he's a boy. My sister probably does stuff at midnight all the time, but she's safe because she's in a really small town. Whatever.

I watched Britney & Kevin: Chaotic last night. I've been looking for someone to discuss it with, but I'm embarassed to tell people that I watched it, so I'm having a little trouble. The show is basically just home videos that Brit took while she was on the road and was lonely starting back not long after she met Kevin, but before they got serious. It's kind of funny. The best part was when Brit predicted that within the next 5 yrs. Brad Pitt was going to get bored, get divorced, and find a younger woman. At the time, it was just wishful thinking on her part, but alas, that's exactly what happened, only it didn't take 5 yrs. it only took 5 months. Too bad she married Kevin, cause she maybe could have had Brad. Shoot, Angelina is only a couple years older than Brit.

Just 9 hr & 42 minutes to go!

This is post version 2.0 for today. I just spent 20 minutes writing up a really good post, and as I was about to post it, my computer froze up. I'll try to recreate it to the best of my ability.

So, I suffered another reality TV disappointment last night. On The Bachelor, bachelor Charlie didn't choose the girl that I wanted him to choose. I wanted him to chose Krisily, but he chose Sarah instead. He said something that confirmed a suspicion I have had for a long time about the way men like to be treated. Charlie's friend said that Sarah was controlling, and Charlie said that he likes letting her control him. This is a concept that I just can't grasp. I am an independent person, and don't like being controlled. I in turn feel it unnecessary to try to control potential mates. A romantic relationship is supposed to be 50/50, give and take, so I don't understand how that formula can hold true if one person is being the boss.

The other disappointment came from Survivor. I really wanted Ian to win this Survivor, and he came pretty damn close. Ian quit the final immunity challenge with the condition that if he quit Tom would take Katie to the final 2 and not him. I don't understand how after surviving for 38 days, 1 day short of the end someone would decide to give the prize away. I know, honor, friendship, integrity, blah blah blah. Are those things going to pay you $1 million? NO!!!!
