Harry Potter & other reasons I've been absent

Sorry for the absence, but I was a little busy, then I was reading Harry Potter. I finished it last night, and already I'm ready for another one. I think I'm going to reread Order of the Phoenix. It may answer some questions I have about some things in the new one. It was a very good read. There are some very shocking pages. And,
***spoiler alert***
would Ron & Hermoine just frickin' kiss already!
***end spoiler***

Okay, about the car, they won't give me my money back, but they did fix it, so I'm okay with that.

My friend Brion moved to Yukon a couple of weeks ago, so I've been wasting a lot of gas driving back & forth to Yukon. It is fun though to have Brion here & not 2 hours away. Also, since I'm driving out there anyway, I've been getting gas at the truck stops at Morgan Rd. I only paid $1.97 for gas a couple of nights ago. It was awesome. I felt like I was getting away with something.

Go buy Harry Potter. It's totally worth it.

Back to Life, Back to Reality

My vacation was fun, but that's over now. I'm not loving the car so much anymore. On the first day of my vacation, on the way to Tulsa, it broke down & I was stuck at the last McDonald's on the turnpike for an hour & a half waiting for a tow truck. They towed it to the sister dealership in Tulsa & they had it for a week, but they gave me a rental which was okay. The transmission light & engine light had come on, so they kept it for a week & all they did was tell me it was 3 quarts low on transmission fluid, so they put that in it. They said the transmission wasn't leaking or anything, they just sold me a car that was 3 quarts low on transmission fluid. K, so I got it back on Thursday, and the AC wasn't working. Drove it home Thursday night everything was fine. Last night it started making a metallic grinding kind of noise. Tomorrow morning I'm going to call them & tell them to come get it, I want my money back. And, Karissa was sick on Tuesday, so we didn't go to see Oklahoma. I'm almost glad to be back at work.

Vacation

By this time next week, I'll be hanging out on my brother's couch in Tulsa. I can't wait. Sean's couch is one of my favorite places in the world. My vacation starts on Friday. Friday night I'm going to my sister's house because I ALWAYS go to my brother's house when I get some time off, and I think it hurts her feelings. But, Sean's house has digital cable and a 56' TV. Leslie doesn't even get local channels. Sometimes I think it's sad & pathetic that my life revolves around TV. An article in Men's Health a couple of years ago said that your brain relates to spending time with your TV "friends" the same as it does to real live people. I'm cool with that. Your TV "friends" aren't going to stab you in the back or hurt your feelings or blow you off. They're always there. Anyway, back to the vacation. On Monday I'm going back to Sean's to shoot off fireworks. On Tuesday, we're going to Discoveryland to see Oklahoma! I LOVE Oklahoma!, well musicals in general, but Oklahoma! the second most(Grease is the first). Other than that, I have no plans. I'm so excited!

I got a new(to me) car last night. It's a 2001 Mercury Sable. It's really nice. It has a cd player & cruise control & power windows and locks & buttons on the key chain & tinted windows. I'm so happy about the car. I love it!

Have a nice day!

Recipes

I love recipes, cookbooks, anything that has to do with cooking. I could spend $1 million in Williams-Sonoma easily. When I was in high school I even made up my own cookie recipe and won several awards for it. I also like reading cookbooks, which some people think is weird. My favorite cookbook is the one my aunt Terri made me. It's full of secret family recipes that I'm not allowed to give to anyone. :)

A friend of mine brought me a new recipe today. It's for Asparagus Casserole. It looks really easy and yummy. I'll have to wait until next weekend until I have a chance to cook it though. Here it is if you're interested:

Asparagus Casserole

2 cups cracker crumbs
2 cups (8 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese
1 (15 oz.) can asparagus tips
1 (10 oz.) can mushroom soup
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine, melted

Preheat the gas oven to 350 degrees. Combine the cracker crumbs and cheese in a medium bowl and mix well. Drain the asparagus, reserving 1 cup liquid. Combine the reserved liquid and the soup in a large bowl and mix well.

Layer 1/3 of the cracker mixture, 1/2 of the asparagus and 1/2 of the soup mixture in a greased 2-quart casserole. Repeat the layers and top with the remaining cracker mixture. Drizzle with margarine. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: 6-8 servings.

Doesn't it sound good?

My Weekend

This Friday I went Tulsa & played with my neice Sydney while my brother went to work. She's such a funny kid. She just turned 2 in March & she talks a lot, but I can only understand about 2/3 of what she's saying. We played out side most of the afternoon and I got some much needed color.
On Saturday we all went to Bartlesville for Paige's first birthday party. It was about as exciting as a first birthday party can be. We went early because Sean & Karissa were getting Sydney her first dog at the SPCA. She's a really pretty lab mix puppy. Her name is Daisy and she's tan with chocolate spots, with one blue and one green eye.
I came home late last night, watched My Best Friend's Wedding, and here I am at work today. I actually have to do work today because my boss is coming back from her 2 week vacation tomorrow, and I have to make it look like I did something while she was gone. :)

Happy Father's Day!

To my daddy, and all the dad's that read this.

Blog Grammar

There seem to be some people out there that think they are a little more internet savvy than they actually are. They try to use the shortened versions of words because they're lazy or to give the appearance of cool or whatever. To those people, here's a little lesson on hiding your true idiocy. Pic=1 picture. Pix=2 or more pictures. If you have one picture labeled pix, your computer has encountered an id10t error. To correct this, you should go out and buy yourself a brain.

Word of the day: idiocy - 'i-dE-&-sE (n) plural -cies
1 usually offensive : extreme mental retardation
2 : something notably stupid or foolish

My Favorite Game on the Internet

I love eBay. It's by far my favorite game on the internet. It's always so fun to win, even if what I'm bidding on is total crap, and believe me I have bought quite a bit of crap. I've been playing most of the day today. I used to impulse bid on a lot of stuff, but I've gotten better at putting it in my watch items. That way I don't actually spend money, but if I really want it, I can go back to it.
Today I bought some soap making stuff. If you've never made soap, you should try it. It's one of my less expensive, and most relaxing hobbies. You can get a 2lb. bag of soap cubes at Hobby Lobby for $5.99-$6.49 depending on the kind, and molds that make 4-6 bars per tray in the $2.47 range. It's so easy to do too. You just melt the cubes in the microwave, add some fragrance & some color, and pour it into the mold. 45 min-1 hr later, you have soap. The clean up is really easy too since it's soap. If it hardens on anything you don't want it to, you just have to run water on it & it goes away.
Anyway, back to what I bought on eBay. I got a 1 lb brick of soap for $2.75, which ended up costing me $7.05 with shipping, go figure. I also got 2 soap molds; one is peace signs and smiley faces and the other is dragonflies and ladybugs. They were a little more expensive than the ones at Hobby Lobby, but I was at Hobby Lobby today and they didn't have them. I did get a mold at Hobby Lobby that has shoes and purses.
I can't wait to get home tonight. I'm so going to make soap after I cut Mom's hair, unless I can get out of cutting Mom's hair; then I'll just make soap.

Movie recommendation of the day: Dick starring Kirsten Dunst & that girl that played Jen on Dawson's Creek. It's a hilarious satire on the whole Watergate scandal.
