Okay, here's the deal: Nicholas Cage just had a baby boy. He named the child Kal-El.
Where did the name Kal-El come from?
The first person to email me with the correct answer will get a prize. I haven't decided what the prize is yet, but it will be cool.

Haircuts
Do you have a regular hairdresser that you go to, or do you let someone different cut it every time?
I did hair for 6 years, and have a very hard time finding someone who can cut my hair to my standards. I got a hair cut last Thursday before work. It looked good wet, and I was kind of in a hurry, so I just ran home and curled it real quick. Friday was my day off, and I really got a chance to look at it. There was a huge chunk shopped out on one side!!! I was livid. I went back to the same shop, so I could show the girl what was wrong, and explain to her how to fix the mistake. That didn't happen though, because the manager told me she had to fix it. After she tried to fix it, it was even worse, so I tried to fix it myself this morning. I didn't do a very good job. I've been growing my hair out for 2 years, it's longer than it's ever been in my life, and I think I'm going to have to cut it all off. I've had it in a ponytail for the last 2 days so that noone can see how bad it is.

Men Beware!
(I saw this at Jenna is Annoyed, and couldn't resist "borrowing" it.)
Police today warned all men who frequent yacht clubs and dock parties to stay cautious when offered drinks by women.
Females are using a date rape drug called "beer" to target unsuspecting men.
This drug comes in liquid form and is available nearly everywhere.
"Beer" is used by female predators to persuade hapless male victims to go home with them.
Women need only persuade a man to consume a few of these "beers" and then ask him home for no-strings-attached sex, a simple approach that renders most men helpless.
After several "beers," men will have sex with even unattractive women.
Often men awaken with only hazy memories of the night before, a horrible headache, and a vague feeling that something bad happened.
Some really unfortunate men are even separated from their life's savings in a scam called "a relationship."
In extreme cases, females have entrapped unsuspecting males into long-term servitude through a punishment called "marriage."
Apparently, men are much more susceptible to this scam once "beer" is administered.
If you, or some man you know, have fallen victim to this insidious "beer" and the predatory women who administer it, rest assured: male support groups exist in every major city where you can discuss the ugly details of your encounter in an open and frank manner with similarly affected, like-minded guys.
For the support group nearest you, look in the Yellow Pages under "GolfCourses."

Bored
I have been so bored the last couple of days. So bored that nothing sounds entertaining, so I end up just sitting around doing nothing. I don't get paid until Friday, and for the last 2 days all I've thought about is ways to spend my money when I get it. There are some things that I could responsibly spend my money on, like my taxes, but I don't want to. Where's the fun in that. What's the point of working 40 hours a week if when you get your money you can't do anything fun with it?
Have a nice day!

Miscellany
I took the postal service test on Friday. It was long and boring, but I think hope I did pretty well.
I have become a little obsessed with Hobby Lobby. They have all sorts of things that I want to buy & create & play around with. I can't wait until payday! And, I got a 40% off 1 item coupon at the website, and there are 6 reasonably close Hobby Lobby's to me, so on Friday, I'll be driving around OKC getting things for 40% off at Hobby Lobby.
I'm contemplating going to get my hair cut on Friday. It's been over a year since the last time I got my hair cut because I've got extreme OCD when it comes to my hair. I know exactly how I want it cut, down to the technique I want used when it's cut. It's really hard to find someone who knows what they're doing well enough for them to cut my hair my way and it be flawless. Seriously, I wish I could take my head off, sit it in front of me, and cut it myself. It would be so much easier than dealing with the stress of letting someone else cut it.
Desperate Housewives premieres tonight. Don't forget to watch, and if you do watch, let me know what happens, I'm not going to have a chance to see it.
Have a nice day!

The REAL Reason for my Absence
For the last week, I've been obsessively playing Minesweeper. I beat the beginner & intermediate levels a long time ago, but the expert level has been giving me some trouble. I'd be going along at a good pace, then BAM I'd accidentally hit the wrong box, and lose.
One day, I got down to 27 before I screwed up.
A couple of days later, I got down to 3.
I was excited. I thought I was getting pretty close to accomplishing my goal.
Today I did it!
I am ecstatic! I can barely contain myself! And, now that I've beaten it, I never have to play that damn game again!

Anonymous comments
I am no longer allowing anonymous comments here at Amandaland. If you want to leave a comment, you need to create a blogger account. It's free and easy to do. I have to do this because of the loser anonymous commenters who have been spamming my comments recently. Losers!

Happy Tuesday
Hey everybody! Here's what's been going on in Amandaland today:
I walked all the way across campus in the 90 degree heat to get a new ID card, and when I got there, I found out that the machine was broken.
I applied for a better paying job here in the library.
I'm bored, so I'm leaving work an hour early.
I spent an hour curling my hair this morning. It looks really cute.
The Big Brother finale is on tonight. I'm watching it when I get home.
I watched How I Met Your Mother last night. It was pretty funny.
I have a 99% in my class. It's so mind numbingly easy.
I found a new blog, Pink is the new Blog, which apparently the whole world already knew about except for me. It has great celeb pics and gossipy stuff.
I think that's all for today. I'm going home now.
Have a nice day!

Damn, where have I been?
Man, I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since my last post. So much has been going on. Labor Day weekend, I went to my sister's house to make friends with my 14 month old niece, Paige. She's so cute! It didn't take very long to make friends with her, and I didn't even have to bribe her with ice cream, which was my back up plan. Anyway, that weekend was the same weekend as my high school reunion, in the same town, but I didn't go to the reunion. Those people made my life hell for 4 years, and I had no desire to see them again. So, the most gratifying thing about that weekend was seeing someone I graduated with carhopping at Sonic. It was great. Okay, so while I was at my sister's house, Mason had a cold. I didn't realize how easy it is to get germs from little kids until 2 days after I got home. I got to work Wednesday feeling fine, but by my lunch break, I was getting a little achey, and by mid-evening, I was sure I was dying. I went home sick Wednesday night and called in Thursday and Friday. Between the time I left work Wednesday evening and Friday evening I slept a total of like 26 hours. I had to come back to work on Sunday, still feeling pretty bad, because I had homework due on Monday, and I couldn't do it from home. I've been working on my school work pretty much nonstop since then. My goal is to finish my class in like half the allotted time so I can just be done with it. Wish me luck.
